Project Meetings

A number of research consortia and other project groups have held their management or dissemination meetings during or adjoining the Conference. This can prove to be a convenient time if several group members already plan to attend the Conference.

The Association for European Transport offers the facility to hold such project meetings alongside or during the European Transport Conference.

To discuss benefits of this with the Association, please contact Sabrina Winter through the AET contact form.

BE OPEN Session – Friday 11 October Morning (3 Hours)

Title: Open Science in Transport: challenges and way forward

Outline:

BE OPEN - European forum and oBsErvatory for OPEN science in transport – is a H2020 CSA project which started in January 2019 (30 months). The BE OPEN project consortium includes 17 partners from 10 countries and it consists of 6 foremost Research Institutes in transport, 2 Universities, 5 Industries in Transport sector, 2 technology platforms, a legal firm and an IT company. It is led by CERTH-HIT.

BE OPEN aims to create a common understanding on the practical impact of Open Science and to identify and put in place the mechanisms to make it a reality in transport research. Achieving Open Access to publications, making their underlying data FAIR and open where possible, and using open and collaborative processes and infrastructure via the EOSC will be key factors in making transportation researchers share-reuse-reproduce science and in bringing such a critical sector closer to the society for enabling open innovation and citizen science.

This is the first workshop of the project which will be organized in relation to the activities of WP1 “Open Science framework and stakeholders views” and WP2 “Mapping of existing Open Science sources in transport”. We are looking forward to engaging stakeholders into the discussion around the Open Science in Transport, and more particularly around the terminology for Open Science understanding and around the needs of the different modes of transport regarding Open Science in Transport.

Format

Interactive workshop (panel and group discussion); the audience will be highly involved in the discussions, allowing as many contributions as possible to enrich the common understanding on the practical impact of Open Science in the transport sector.
