The Association for European Transport (AET) is pleased to confirm the institutional support of Portugal’s Secretary of State for Mobility for the European Transport Conference (ETC) 2026. This endorsement highlights the importance of the conference as a platform for discussing key mobility challenges and sharing knowledge across Europe.

Portugal is currently undertaking significant developments in its transport system. Plans include a new airport for Lisbon, the introduction of the country’s first high-speed rail lines, and major metro extensions in Lisbon and Porto. Alongside these investments, Portugal is advancing the transition towards greener and more sustainable mobility.

Against this backdrop, ETC 2026 will take place just one week before EU Mobility Week, providing a timely opportunity for transport professionals from across Europe to engage with the latest developments in policy, research and practice.

Beyond the conference sessions themselves, preparations for ETC involve close collaboration with local transport stakeholders. Government bodies, public institutions and companies all contribute to shaping the event, helping to ensure meaningful dialogue between European experts and national and regional authorities.

With the support of the Secretary of State for Mobility and the participation of Portuguese transport stakeholders, ETC 2026 will provide an important forum for exploring European transport challenges while drawing insights from Portugal’s evolving mobility plans.
