The European Transport Conference brings together policy makers, practitioners and researchers from across Europe and beyond to explore the full breadth of transport challenges and solutions.
At the heart of ETC is its distinctive multi-seminar format, allowing delegates to engage with parallel sessions that dive deeply into policy, best practice and cutting-edge research. Topics span from local delivery to national and international strategy, creating a rich and varied programme that reflects the complexity of today’s transport landscape.
Whether you are shaping policy, delivering projects or developing new research, the conference offers engaging and thought-provoking sessions designed to inform, challenge and inspire at every stage of your career.

Our abstract portal will be open from 9 December 2025 for submissions. It will close on 6 February, after which our twelve Programme Committees will review al submitted abstracts. In April the chairs of all the committees will get togetherto create the three day programme for the conference. Confirmations of acceptance will be sent to abstract submitters between 4 and 9 May 2026. After notification of acceptance, the authors need to reconfirm their contribution to the conference and make sure to book their place for the conference by the end of June. Authors can find the presentation day and time slot on their abstract page, or look it up in our downloadable programme which will be published by 9 May.
To access or update your abstract or presenter details, log in with your website account and navigate to the "My abstracts" section of your account. You can update your abstract yourself until the end of August. From September, any changes you make are not automatically copied onto our conference app. Please contact us via email aetransport.events@aetransport.org for any last minute changes after 1 September.
We understand that the abstract submitter (owner) might not be the colleague who will present the paper at the conference. The presenting author can be identified on the abstract submission form and can be updated by the abstract owner through their website account.
A style sheet for your conference paper will be made available as a download on this page by the end of May, as well as more information on writing a conference paper and our guidelines for presenting at our conference. For questions about the abstract submission or programme process, please contact our teams at aetransport.events@aetransport.org.
The repository of ETC past papers is a valuable resource of the Association and is an important source of information for transport planners, researchers and engineers worldwide. Speakers are strongly encouraged to write and submit a full paper to be added to the repository. Full papers can be uploaded on your abstract page after receiving your acceptance notification for the programme in May. If you plan to make a paper available to the conference audience, please upload your paper by 9 September.
We ask speakers who are unable to upload their paper before the conference (or who would like to upload both a paper and a presentation) to upload their presentation slides (if possible) to their abstract page. This will help our delegates choose their personal conference programme and help their audience to prepare informed questions for lively debates during the sessions.
Presenters interested in peer review and publication online, or in special issues of journals, can indicate so on their abstract submission form. While full papers can be uploaded to your abstract page before the conference, any updated or changed versions of the final papers must be uploaded to the abstract pages by 31 October 2026. Our Peer Review committee will then collect the submitted papers and start their selection process. More information can be found on our publications opportunities page.
